Television Show Concept

I had a neat idea for a television show that I don't want to forget.  It's a near-future sci fi show that revolves around an organization with the technological capability to swap consciousnesses, as long as both consciousnesses have been programmed into their system.  They mostly market this to wealthy families that are concerned about kidnappings--if a client is kidnapped, agents can swap minds with them to gather intelligence and coordinate a rescue.  Each client's brain is mapped to a particular agent, which can occasionally cause complications.  For example, in one episode, a blow to the head of the client puts one of the main agents into a coma, so the agency has to scramble to try to at least partially map the brain of another agent enough to at least give the second agent the ability to see and hear what the client is seeing and hearing.  The signal wavelength that this organization uses is also susceptible to disruption--going deep underground or into a building with thick concrete walls prevents the agency from being able to establish a connection with the client.

The two main agents, as I see the show in my head, are a retired black FBI agent in his late forties and a white woman in her twenties whose younger sister was kidnapped years ago.  Their pasts, obviously, occasionally come back to haunt them.  There's also the dedicated team of geeky techs that get the whole operation running, and the hard-nose Hispanic woman in charge of the whole operation.

The Predator (Part 1)

Look, there has been a lot of misconception about us.  That's partially our fault.  We've generated a lot of wild ideas about ourselves for the last couple centuries.  First some false rumors, then Bram Stoker... the film industry has also been very good for us.

The hope was that you humans wouldn't believe we even existed if your ideas of us were so ridiculous.  It's worked, hasn't it?  That's why you think I'm crazy.

The rumors we've spread were only very loosely based on truth.  The sunlight thing?  Totally bogus.  We just happen to be nocturnal.  Most predators are, you know.  Our eyesight is better in low light conditions.  We can hide in the shadows and stalk our prey.  But we don't burst into flames or anything when exposed to UV rays.  Oh, and we don't sparkle, either.  That's just... weird.

Crosses?  Are you serious?  Let me put it this way:  If you were being attacked by a bear, would you count on your crucifix to save you?  We're not demonspawn.  We're flesh and blood, just like you.  We just happen to have slightly different dietary needs.  Well, that, and we tend to be stronger and faster than you humans.  I'm told it's like the difference between dogs and wolves.

Well, yeah, the blood part is real.  Meat is somewhat satisfying, but blood is what really nourishes us.  I haven't studied medicine, so I don't know all the details.  Eric has tried to explain it to me before.  Apparently our bodies don't produce some sort of something, so we need to consume blood regularly to replace it.

We're not monsters or anything.  Just... predators.  And I'll point out that we rarely actually kill our prey.  We don't need to.  We only need maybe a pint of blood a week to live.  The Red Cross takes hundreds, even thousands of pints from you humans every day.

I'll admit, I tend to feed three or four times a week.  I, um... enjoy the hunt.  But I haven't killed anyone in decades.

No.  No, I didn't--would you shut up and listen?  I didn't kill her.  That was not my fault.

I know what it looked like, dammit, you don't have to tell me what it looked like.  I understand why I'm here and I understand why you suspect me.  But if you'll just listen, I can explain what happened....

Online Publishing

Thanks to the wonders of the Internet, writers have the ability to put their ideas and stories up in a public forum where all can read and enjoy them.  I have liked the concept for a long time, but have never taken advantage of it.  Until now.

I am a creative person.  I enjoy crafting worlds and stories, games and characters.  This blog will be a way for me to share my ideas with others.  As much as I enjoy writing, and although many friends and family members assure me that I have some talent, I am still very inexperienced.  Hopefully, by putting my stories online and allow people to critique my work, I will hone my skills.  Perhaps, someday, I will even be able to publish my more polished works.  Who knows?

I also hope that having this blog will encourage me to write more often.  As of right now, I hope to be able to put up a new post at least once a week, even if it is short.  Theoretically, the constant writing will improve my skills.

Thank you all for supporting me in this endeavor, and remember, if you think something sucks, don't just tell me.  Tell me why!
